To avoid this, you can use an engine block heater for at least two to four hours before using your vehicle. This will help your fluids to stay in liquid form and also warm up your engine.

Tire Pressure Fluctuation

When the temperature drops, your tire pressure decreases. Tire pressure also decreases when your car is stationary. And under-inflated tires do not perform well and could be subject to failure, especially on icy roads.

Moreover, driving around with low tire pressure can result in major or fatal accidents. To avoid this from happening, you have to make sure that you regularly check your tire pressure indicator on your dashboard. And as soon as the light on your tire pressure indicator turns on, immediately inspect the tire and make necessary repairs. You might end up with a flat tire if you do not do this, and you would not want that.

Dead Battery

Your car’s battery is one of the most sensitive parts, more so when winter comes up. When the temperature goes down below zero, there is a high possibility that your battery will cool down. And that can make starting the car way difficult.

The easiest way to avoid this is to replace your car battery before the winter season. But never do it on your own. Visit your mechanic and have them replace the battery. This way, you can also ask them if any other problems need to be fixed.

Wiper Malfunction

During the winter season, there is a huge possibility that the blades of your wiper might get torn, while the transmissions might break. They tend to freeze onto the windshield, and they might break if you do not clean the glass or peel the wipers off before using them. A frozen wiper might also cause scratches on your windshield. So if you are expecting cold weather, make sure to take the wipers off or tilt them up. This way, the wipers would not have a surface to freeze onto.
