Window tint can improve comfort and change the look of your vehicle, but the shade also needs to meet Utah law. Use this Roy guide to understand the rules, then discuss the film and your vehicle's glazing with an installer.

A vehicle with tint that does not meet Utah law may be cited and may need to have the tint corrected. The outcome depends on the circumstances and current enforcement requirements. Check the applicable rules before installation and address any notice you receive.
Removing noncompliant film can leave adhesive or affect defroster lines. Ask an installer to assess the window before removal and explain what correction may involve.
Utah's tint rules distinguish between passenger and multipurpose vehicles and between windows on each vehicle. Review the diagrams below for the applicable limits, then confirm the current requirements before choosing a film and shade.
